Eric Shaw
Eric Shaw is a multi facested artist who currently reisdes in Chatham, Ontario with his wife Kaori and children - Alexander and Nanami.
Eric works in pen, pencil, colour pencil, water colours, acrylics and photography. He draws inspiration from his family, Japan, history, other artists past and present and the popular culture.
Eric's subject of choice is most often sublime portraiture and the human form as well as offbeat satirical pieces much in the vein of Fritz Schonpflug, Pierre et Gil, Marcel Dzama, Shag, Gary Larson, Gustave Dore and a number of other oddballs.
Many of these works are infused with a great deal of irony. Eric also has a love of architecture which provides subject matter for a number of his images and has a passion for music which offers much inspiration and impetus.
Eric often collaborates with his wife Kaori who is a top class couturiere and remarkably talented artist in her own right. Since moving to Canada from Japan in 2005, they have built an impressive body of work and continue to please, fascinate and entertain.
"Art, beauty, and humour add to the richness of our lives and when you see art in everything, it is hard to imagine a world without it. No beauty, no laugh, no life."
