Tracy Bultje

Tracy Bultje was born and resides in Chatham, Ontario where she continues to work in her home studio as a contemporary landscape painter.

Artist Statement
The striking patterns and intense colours of a landscape speak to my direct, strong spiritual and theological beliefs. The rhythmic forms and chaotic ferocity of nature have been a source of inspiration for Canadian artists. Rather than re-creating a landscape on a canvas contemporary post-modern practice often challenges or subverts what is familiar. What I present is a representation of nature in the form of landscape, imbued with poetic metaphors for the human condition. I capture an impression of the nature’s wild through the use and development of intricate patterns from botanical and geological forms. Whether it is imposing order upon the landscape, or extrapolating order from it, the patterns that emerge as part of this natural/cultural system represent a convergence of chaos and order. An idealized form of nature is presented and seen through a filter of culture.
