Becky Fixter Vagners, Laurie Langford & Kelly Ridley: The Exhibitchin The Exhibitchin features assemblage pieces by local artists Laurie Langford, Kelly Ridley and Becky Fixter-Vagners. The works range from shadow boxes, found object sculpture and costume, all surrounding the notions of female roles and stereotypes that women have endured throughout history and into present day. Laurie’s work has been on display at the William Street Café, ARTspace, community initiatives at the Thames Art Gallery and is part of many private collections. Laurie attended the University of Toronto where she majored in Art History and English Literature, and Sheridan College where she studied Advertising. Kelly is a costume designer and artist, allowing her art to focus on fibres and textiles. Kelly majored in philosophy and has exhibited her work in Windsor and Chatham. Her costume designs have also been used in performances throughout South Western Ontario. Becky attended York University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Becky now works full time from her home studio, in close harmony with nature, and is currently represented by galleries in Mississauga, London, and Chatham. This exhibition will be on display from September 21 – October 29, 2011, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 22 at 7pm.
