About the Gallery

ARTspace was formed in 2008 as a joint initiative between the Thames Art Gallery and an interested group of Chatham-Kent artists. It was created to meet the demands of the community for a common ground where artists and appreciators can gather to become educated, share their interests and exhibit in a space where their artistic vision can be realized, supported and exposed to the public.

ARTspace is a not-for-profit gallery dedicated to the promotion and development of emerging and mid career artists engaged in contemporary visual arts practice. ARTspace offers exhibiting opportunities for regional and national artist by providing exhibitions twice a year upon reviewing a proposal. However, the gallery maintains a special focus on exhibiting and promoting a diversity of artistic practices within the region of Chatham-Kent.

In addition to our goal of expanding artistic discourse through exhibition programming, a significant part of the gallery’s vision includes professional development and support. Members are encouraged to access information and skills training offered through the gallery in the form of resources, workshops, crit sessions, volunteering opportunities and gallery openings.
