Janet was born in Toronto and raised in the greater Toronto area. She has always loved art and creative endeavors were always strongly supported by her parents. She attended the University of Toronto and graduated as a pharmacist in 1983.
Finding time to be creative was difficult for some years while supporting her husband through medical school and raising three children – a daughter and twin boys. As the family grew, however, more time became available to explore creative outlets, and a passion for pottery emerged. Classes from local potters and workshops around Ontario helped shape her growth as a potter. Her husband’s gift of a kiln and a wheel allowed her to set up her own studio and spend more time creating both functional and decorative pieces.
She continues to work part-time as a hospital clinical pharmacist and enjoys sharing her passion for pottery with others.
