scott livingstone

Scott Livingstone’s work brings the feelings of every landscape together to evoke one timeless place of a quiet pastoral presence. Livingstone’s ‘big sky’ acrylic art, often five-eighths sky, is expressive of the rural settings of Chatham-Kent-Lambton counties.

Livingstone’s landscapes have evolved from his more abstract mining of deep-layered images of colour and sky to expose sun and wind, growth and decay, and freeze and thaw. Livingstone’s abstract series of ‘Drift’ paintings are a playful experimentation of layering, scraping and rubbing techniques to reveal a sense of space, gestural movement, and the qualities of light and shadow. The ‘Drift’ series is tumultuous, intuitive and yet planned – dichotomies in the painter’s works. Livingstone’s work is inspired by Mark Rothko and Adam Neat. Livingstone’s studio is in Chatham, Ontario
