Connecting art and people in Chatham-Kent
Lisa Marshall’s current work explores the expression of human qualities through painting. A painting may be able to interpret what humans feel are traits in others. Each human quality has its own colour associations, emotions and vibrations. For example, ‘Curiosity’ may visually be expressed as bright colours poking through the diverse range of more subdued, brushed backgrounds. Acrylics provide a range of colour and variety that dry quickly, capturing the emotive quality of the piece.
The river of curiosity runs through Marshall’s former work with elemental shapes in Northern Boreal landscapes unleashing attributes of transformation and rebirth. Similar themes are realized in Marshall’s more tactile medium of encaustic. Marshall’s monotypes and monoprints meander through her continuing journey with nature and emotion.
